“What a Distinguished Stranger!”
Inspired by the scene in Oscar Wilde's Happy Prince Tale where the swallow flys around the town, visiting the local monuments and wherever he went the local sparrows would comment on the distinguished swallow.
I’ve set this scene in Forthill Park in Enniskillen with the swallow flying over the bandstand, Cole’s Monument, the inspiration for the tale in the background whilst a group of sparrows chatter about their visitor from a nearby holly tree.
When I was taking reference photos for this back at the end of July 2026 I also enjoyed watching the swallows fly over the Park.
