Wild Atlantic Way Wildflowers

Inspired by the beautiful flowers and butterflies along the walk at the back of Portnoo Pier. When walking to the shop we always continue on down to the pier first for a wander around. This was from June this year, the area was just full of beautiful wild flowers including Burnet Rose, also known as Scotch Rose, Wild Thyme, Red Clover, Field Scabious, Bird’s Foot Trefoil and Sea Campion amongst others. There were several Painted Lady butterflies which were enjoying the Wild Thyme and Red Clover so of course I had to include one in my painting. I also spotted a Tortoiseshell butterfly on the thyme. The sea was a gorgeous blue colour and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. A stunning, tranquil scene from the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal.
